The Ministry of Justice electronic office supports a fully online nationality-by-residence application. Preparing access and files before opening the form reduces errors and avoids relying on an unfinished draft.
1. Prepare electronic access
If you file for yourself through the current electronic office, you need an accepted Cl@ve method and AutoFirma installed and tested. Prepare Cl@ve or your digital certificate first. If a legal or voluntary representative with sufficient authority files instead, that person enters and signs with their own electronic means, so you may not use AutoFirma personally.
2. Organise and scan the documents
Check the list for your case first. Files must be complete, readable and consistent. Review passport, residence, birth and criminal records, Instituto Cervantes evidence, reduced-period documents, translations and legalisations.
3. Verify the fee
The application is subject to form 790 code 026. Follow the fee payment and proof guide, keep the correct receipt and do not reuse or photocopy forms that contain a unique code.
4. Do not depend on the draft
The electronic office states that a draft remains available for two months after creation. If it is not signed and submitted within that period, it is automatically deleted.
5. Sign, submit and save proof
Before signing, review personal details, notifications, representation and attachments. After filing, download the application copy and registration receipt showing number, date and time. Keep a local copy of every submitted file.
6. After filing
Keep your electronic access active and monitor official notifications. Additional documents can be uploaded to an existing electronic file. The status enquiry is informative and is not itself a formal notification.
Final check
- Cl@ve or certificate tested.
- AutoFirma working on the signer’s computer.
- Fee receipt correct.
- Files readable and clearly named.
- Notification details checked.
- Registration receipt saved.
Next step
Record the file number and submission date, then use the case tracking and status guide so you can follow the application and respond methodically to any request.
